BUTLER CO. CRIME STOPPERS
402-367-4555

WHAT IS CRIME STOPPERS?

Butler County Crime Stoppers is a program designed to solve crimes.  It involves the community by asking them to supply leads and information that may assist law enforcement officials in solving crimes.

Crime Stoppers was originally formed in Albuquerque, NM in 1976 and continues to expand throughout the world.

Butler County Crime Stoppers was formed in 1992.  Our first reward was paid out 10-22-92.  Since that time, we have received hundreds of calls.  Approximately 25% of them have resulted in convictions and rewards were paid out.

WHO FUNDS CRIME STOPPERS?

Crime Stoppers does not receive any funding from State or Federal sources.  It is a community project totally supported by your donations.  All contributions are tax deductible.

WHO RUNS CRIME STOPPERS?

The board of directors is compromised of Butler County residents who are dedicated to organizing methods of raising the funds needed to pay rewards.  We work closely with the law enforcement officials in reviewing each case that is called in.  Once the crime has been solved, we then determine the amount of the reward up to $1000.

HOW DOES CRIME STOPPERS WORK?

If you know about a crime that has been committed, call Butler County Crime Stoppers at 402-367-4555.  A 24 hour operator will take the information from you then assign you a code number.  You do not give your name to the operator.  You will be told to call back in a specified period of time.  This will allow law enforcement officials time to investigate the crime.  If the crime has been resolved due to the information received by the caller, a reward will be paid.

HOW IS THE REWARD PAID?

In order for the identity of the caller to remain anonymous, the caller tells the operator which bank should be used as a place to pick up the cash reward.  This bank does not have to be in Butler County.
When picking up the cash, you identify yourself by the code number assigned earlier.  The bank employee will know you are the individual who is to receive the reward.
